  There are many things that make a genre clear to what it is. For example, the genre Thriller has usually always has these factors to it.      camera angles:     - High angle/ Birds view : This is used in thriller to give the effect that whatever is being looked down upon looks vulnerable or powerless compared to what is behind the camera.     -close ups: This angle allows the camera to give a clear view of the characters emotions to the event happening .     - Tilted angle:  This adds tension to the scene at hand and sometimes signifying a supernatural occurrence. Genre Research: Vivarium

  The movie  Vivarium  (2019)   is a thriller/mystery movie. This means it has conventions common for both of those genres. However, I will be focusing on the thriller genre.  Camera Angles, Movement, and shots: This film showed many gods' view angles in order to show the strange eeriness of the settings the characters were trapped in. This makes the audience also feel trapped and scared for the characters. The director also made use of close up shots. the focus of the characters' emotions in these shots lead the reader in the direction that there may be something wrong. Costumes: This movie was about two normal couples that got into a weird reality so they are dressed in normal everyday clothes however the people already in that reality always wear suits, even the children.  Lighting: The director said he purposely made the lighting look artificial to achieve the sense of a sickening institutional feeling. Genre Research: Scientific Fiction

  There are many things that make a genre clear to what it is. For example, the genre Science Fiction has usually always has these factors to it. Camera Angles: Medium shot: This shot is often used to show at least two or more people/creatures. It shows their faces in good detail and allows  viewers  to see the emotions the characters are feeling.  Close up: This angle allows the audience to connect  with the character. It is more intense than a medium shot, often capturing only one whole character in frame. Extreme close up (aka reaction shot): This shot is perfect for very intense emotions. It shows us tiny details that  viewers  wouldn't have previously seen, and draws  attention  to what the director pleases. Costumes: Costumes in this genre often depend on the role the character is playing.
